A rare opportunity to go behind the scenes of the world-renowned Dunedin Study as guests of Study Director, Professor Reremoana (Moana) Theodore and her team.
The Dunedin Study is a taonga; the most detailed longitudinal study of human health and development in the world. For more than fifty years, it has been growing our knowledge of what it means to be human, uncovering astonishing insights that have informed health and education policy and practice, and in doing so contributed to better lives, here in Aotearoa and around the globe.
A unique collaboration between researchers and more than 1000 New Zealanders, the Study began in 1972 when the participants were babies. Five decades on, it continues to generate invaluable insights - from the link between self-regulation and life outcomes (shared by Jimmy McLauchlan at our 2024 Making Moonshots Possible event), to its current focus on biological and psychological aging.
“From a country that’s often even left off the map, now you can't talk about aging in a scientific venue, you can't talk about mental health without mentioning the findings from the Dunedin study.” – Professor Terri Moffitt
